This ministry is not the main focus of The Paul Initiative but our partnership with it is a direct response to being obedient to the words of Jesus in Matthew 25. Ed Hickey's wife, Cheryl, serves as president for Mercy and Caring Children's Homes.
Mercy and Caring Children's Homes (MCCH) provides food, shelter, schooling, clothing, love and support for the children who live at the facility. MCCH was founded in 2001 by Nancy and Edwin Cahill after visiting the slums of Kitale and seeing the need to provide a safe environment for these vulnerable children. Their story really goes back years earlier to when Nancy herself went through the disciple making process with the Nav 2:7. With this as their foundation for training, they were launched off into a fruitful life of helping others.
The children live on a 10 acre parcel of land and receive three meals a day. School fees and uniforms are provided and the children are getting a good education. On the land the children are learning practical skills such as how to farm, raise chickens and cows, as well as other skills.
In the future, our hope is to also provide the children with trade skills. The goal is to help these children break the chain of poverty and to not return to the slums.
A simple monthly gift of $35 will provide the continued care for the children. You may give to the general fund or be paired with one of the children. If you choose to sponsor a specific child you will receive updated pictures of your child and you will be able to correspond with one another.
